74
The Pyzel 74 surfboard was designed to work best in punchy beach breaks, reef waves or lined-up points from 3-6ft.
The 74 was chosen by Dane Reynolds as the winning board in his Stab in the Dark blind surfboard test, and was designed by Jon Pyzel with better waves and high-performance surfing in mind.
The Pyzel 74 features:
- The outline is clean, with a mild hip in the tail.
- The bottom rocker is medium/high, which generates speed and drive, but still allows the board to be loose and responsive.
- A single concave throughout the bottom adds lift, projection and further drive.
- The deck is a bit flatter than Pyzel's other models, which adds some extra volume out towards the rail (providing extra float and paddle power) but the rail itself is less boxy, for sensitivity.
Grab the 74 if you love high-performance surfing in good waves, and want something reliable under your feet. If you are after something to suit less than stellar waves, try jumping on a Pyzel White Tiger for small wave performance fun.
